Introduced by Traviata, this product has broken new ground in the resilient flooring category with the introduction to South Africa of what is believed to be a world first in floating resilient flooring.
Hugh Krog, who is marketing the Allure brand for Traviata, describes Allure Vinyl wood-plank flooring as a revolutionary product that creates opportunities beyond what is possible using traditional wood or laminated flooring products.
“The trend towards adhesive-free flooring systems has become increasingly popular creating opportunities beyond what are possible using traditional wood or laminate products,” he said. “The key features of Allure Vinyl wood-plank flooring are that it’s totally waterproof, requires no glue or complicated installation techniques and can be installed – without an underlay - as a new floor or over any existing cement screed, tile floor, or most other substrates with little or no other preparation”.

“One of the untold secrets of the success of this flooring developed in the USA and proven in a number of European countries,” says Krog, “is attributed to its patented “GripStrip” high tensile joining system – a contact surface which not only makes Allure easy to install but also renders it waterproof.”
“In addition, the high tensile joining system is complementary to the exceptional dimensional stability of the Allure wood-plank flooring. This means that no gapping occurs during installation or use, making it the world’s first resilient planked floor that can be installed as a “seamless” floating floor - and it’s waterproof.”
From a retailers perspective Krog believes Allure Vinyl wood-plank flooring holds a niche position in the marketplace. Krog continues: “A customer or specifier who prefers resilient floors for their warmness, acoustic benefits, comfort underfoot and suitability for most traffic and wet areas, only had a floating floor option in roll form, which does not offer the unique looks of an individual plank or the ease of installation.”
“In addition”, he said, “a retailer can be more comfortable selling this product because it is easier to install and equally simple to repair if it’s ever necessary. If part of the floor is damaged, an installer need only cut out those planks and replace them.”

For very high traffic commercial and industrial applications a “heavy duty” grade is available.
Wear performance properties of the product are enhanced with its advanced “ceramic bead” wear layer making it scratch and chemical resistant. The inherent characteristics of the product not only provide for its termite proof and fire resistant properties but also offer a significant environmental benefit, being formaldehyde-free.
Allure Vinyl Wood-plank flooring is available in a variety of textured wood grain finishes and it is expected that the range will be supplemented with a contemporary stone and marble palette selection.
